Body Boop t-shirts are going on sale soon! We’ll be using TeeSpring (similar to a Kickstarter format), so we’ve set a goal of 100 t-shirts. Stay tuned for the big launch date on Wednesday, August 5 so that you can get yours! 10% of Body Boop’s profit on this collection of t-shirts goes to the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD).
Big thanks to Ashley Hayes (follow her on Twitter) for the inspiration behind the design. Hoping to have stickers and other merchandise developed with this logo. Purple is the color for eating disorder recovery, and while I think that recovery is a “full circle” idea in which you need help from others while you’re sick and eventually return the favor to others when you’re healthy, it’s not always so cut and dry.
In my experience, I’ve had highs and lows with my recovery. I’ve had years where I’ve done well and then surprise years where I’ve relapsed unexpectedly.
To me, the support we give and receive during our recovery journeys is unpredictable, intersecting, and complex – and that’s what these purple, intersecting squares mean to me.
I kept the design simple because I wanted this to be a shirt that MEN AND WOMEN can wear, because ED does not discriminate. I want this to be something that you can wear if you struggle or have struggled, or love someone who has, and consider it a symbol of hope and courage and dedication to recovery. I also wanted it to be something cozy and comfortable to wear in treatment (loose fitting clothing is so important there!).
Thank you so much for your support! I’m so looking forward to this campaign.
